Feedback between Arts& Science

This series was developed as part of my 2017 graduate thesis in Visual Arts, with a concentration in Printmaking and Drawing. The work explores the aesthetics and visual language of scientific illustration, bringing that tradition into conversation with my own interests in ecology, climate change, the evolution of our species, and the ways we relate to the world we belong to.

The series began after Buenos Aires experienced, in the middle of summer, what seemed like an invasion of water hyacinths. Their arrival sparked widespread debate in the media: What should be done with the water hyacinths? What should be done with the animals that inhabit these waters and plants? A threat had appeared, and everyone seemed to be searching for a way to avoid it—or, worse, eliminate it.

It was then that a question entered my mind and began to find its way into my images:

What would happen if, one day, nature grew tired and decided to reclaim what once belonged to it?

What would happen to our supposed “humanity”? What would remain of it?

These questions became part of a broader exploration of our behavior as a species. How do we occupy the natural world? How do we respond when nature disrupts the spaces we believe belong to us? And how invincible do we really think we are?

Through drawing, printmaking, and the visual language of scientific illustration, the work considers humanity not as something separate from nature, but as one species within it—constantly changing, adapting, intervening, and leaving traces behind. At its core, the series asks us to reconsider our relationship with the world not as something that belongs to us, but as something to which we belong.
